The Nutritious Wisdom Owl

Do you KNOW what you're eating???

Do you KNOW what you're eating? Do you ENJOY meeting your nutrition goals? Are you EXCITED about your meals? Do you have to give up everything that tastes good or is fun to eat in order to meet your health and weight management goals?

If you answered "No" to any of these questions, you are not alone! The popular media has convinced us the only way to eat healthy is to give up red meat, eat uncooked vegetables, and never, never have dessert.

Welcome to Nutritious Wisdom. You have found the place to learn to meet your nutrition, health, and weight management goals.

Food is NOT your enemy - the popular media IS!

You don't have to limit the types of foods you eat. You only have to follow portion size and combine the foods you do eat in smart, pleasing combinations. A double hamburger, jumbo fries and extra large soft drink is not a healthy - or slimming - meal.

BUT a small tossed salad with a flavored olive oil for dressing, a serving of the Inside-Out Cheeseburger (see the recipe), mashed sweet potatoes made with orange juice and pecans, and a glass of iced tea (with a teaspoon or less of sugar) IS a healthier choice and will keep you on your path to your health and weight management goals.

Not only is this meal better for you it's fun and excites the mind...the cheeseburger is inside-out (fun), is made with 90% lean ground beef (lower fat than commercial hamburgers and you could make it with bison or venison to make it leaner yet), and doesn't have (or need) all the mayo on it. The sweet potatoes (beautiful color to please your eyes) are mashed using orange juice to give your tongue a tingle and have a few chopped pecans thrown in for texture (unlike plain white mashed russet potatoes made with milk and butter). The salad uses a flavored olive oil (you can buy oils flavored with all kinds of things or make your own flavors) instead of a bottled salad dressing (which tend to be full of fat, salt AND sugars). And by drinking the iced tea (even if you use a teaspoon or less of sugar) you reduce the sugar intake by nine-tenths of what you would drink with the soft drink (the average soft drink has 10 teaspoons of sugar in it).

Set yourself FREE of the stereotypes and myths that have been making your life difficult and full of denials. You CAN achieve your health and weight management goals while still enjoying life and the good things to eat in it.
